Yay, supplies!  As a mixed-media artist I get very excited about them.

I don't like limits when it comes to supplies, I like to use anything and everything.  Also, I tend not to focus on the "correct" way to use art supplies. I could stand to be better with my supplies & techniques.  But the fact is I get swept up in what I'm doing and I don't think about the right way to do it.

Here are my favorite ones:

  • Water-soluble pencils (I use Dr. Sketchy's)
  • Water-soluble colored pencils and crayons
  • Gouache (I use Acryla brand)
  • Acrylic paints of any kind (fancy artist kinds, also cheap $1 craft paint)
  • Collage materials (painted paper, old books, magazines, printouts, found paper, paper doilies, etc.)
  • Glue or double stick tape (I like Yes tape because it sticks more permanently than other double-sided tapes)
  • Spray paint (usually just what I have around)
  • Paint pens (lately I have been enjoying Acrylic brand)

Sketchbooks/art journals:

  • Moleskines (they are my favorite, and I can't deny it!)
  • Book from thrift store with thick pages
  • Handmade books
