Hi.

I'm Cait Sherwood, a mixed-media painter who works into art journals.

I make art from the trash of the art I made before.

Week 9

Hello.

Well, I got myself making things more often again.

So much of my art habit is getting back on the horse.  Beginning, over and over again.  Every day, beginning again.  Beginning multiple times a day.

The room that my current art desk is in is kind of the spare room in our house where all the extra stuff ends up.  It feels like a pile of junk in there.  I spent some time this week clearing it out and then I got a rug for the floor.  I am so appreciative of the new coziness.  Our house does not have any rugs or carpets, and also we live on a dirt farm so keeping the floors nice is a challenge (muddy boots coming in and out all the time).  It's a much welcomed change to have a nice soft space in the spare room.

I am surprised at how often I feel like I MUST reorganize my art-making space.  It's as if every couple of months I cannot proceed with making art until I re-energize my environment.

Months ago I got myself set up with a small desk I borrowed from my mom.  It has served me well but I am outgrowing it.  I bought an L-shaped office desk on eBay and I will be picking that up on Saturday.  Very excited for the extra space, not excited about getting a heavy desk up the stairs of the stony house.

Products of the week:

Mike was given this beautiful piece of petrified wood!

I put all my alabaster eggs outside, so they are molting.  I know they will be ruined but I really didn't like having them in a basket inside.  They are appreciated more outside and function as yard treasure.

This is how the dead hawk painting evolved.  This one has been on my art desk for 6 weeks or so, I'm ready to let it go and let it be a painting.
