Hi.

I'm Cait Sherwood, a mixed-media painter who works into art journals.

I make art from the trash of the art I made before.

Get Messy Season of Magic (Week 5)

Here are pages I made during Week 5 of the Get Messy Season of Magic.

I have to admit I struggle with following prompts!  This is because I turn to art in order to access one of my core desired feelings: TOTAL FREEDOM.  Freedom for me looks like sitting around, making my own intuitive artistic choices in my journals and books.  With coffee and movies and music.

I use the word intuitive a lot when I talk about my art.   Rather than plan, I make one artistic choice, which leads to another, and another, and another. Artwork then unfolds, develops, arrives, emerges.

I'm learning that a prompt can be a small spark to get me started.  I don't evaluate my art in terms of the prompt once I begin.  Like, in this case, I don't think "How can I make this more magical?"  Not that there's anything at all wrong with that--it's just not what I do.

That said, I can totally see and feel how the theme has seeped into my art journaling.  And of course, it's inspiring when you are seeing so many other artists working on the same theme--like KateTanyaleeVanessa, & Jules.
